BOAT VOYAGE WOODEN BOAT CONSTRUCTION

Our company extensive experience in boat building; we have the necessary facilities, equipment and skilled personnel. We have experience in constructing almost any kind of boat, cruising yachts, of metal and wood. Fishing boats ,rowboats, and canoes. We take photos of different stages in the building of a boat to show the customer, and we are of course ready to answer any question pertaining to the construction.

A KIND OF WOODEN BOAT "GULET" GULETTES
The gulette is a very old vessel built of wood. They were used for fishing and carrying cargo consisting mainly of amphoras filled with olive oil and wine. Over the years the gulette has evolved into its present shape of a broad beam and a wide deck. It was also used as a fighting ship, and extensive exploration and trading voyages were made with the gulette. They have been built in different parts of Europe, mainly in the Mediterranean region of Greece and Turkey.

Most vessels are now built in Bodrum, Bozburun, Istanbul and on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. As a matter of fact the boats built in Bodrum and Bozburun are so popular that they are referred to as "Bodrum-Type yachts" or "Gulettes". They are also known as Caiques. Today the gulette is used mainly for cruises. so the emphasis is on comfort which is provided in spacious cabins with WC and showers, wide decks for lounging and sunbathing.

The modern gulette is a mixture of old and new. It is still built of wood which gives off the ambience that only wood can give, but modern technology provides the comfort and the safety. A gulette usually carries two masts; the stem is pointed and the stern gently rounded. Four to eight cabins is the norm some of which can be made into double or master cabins. The number of passengers the gulette can carry depends on the accommodations but usually the figure is between eight and sixteen. In the charter of a gulette is included services and entertainment. The size of the boat and the number of passengers is conducive to a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere amplified with the friendly attentions of the crew.

TYPES OF GULETTES
There are basically three types available of Gulet in Turkey, the standard Gulet, the Ayna Ketch and the Tirhandil. All three types are essentially motor sailing yachts, raising their sails when the wind conditions are most suitable. Of the three types, the Tirhandil is the most suited to cruising under sail. Trawl around the Internet and you will come up with a number of conflicting descriptions for each of the Gulet types and where they originated.

For the prospective buyer of a Gulet all that is really needed, is to know the basic difference between the three types and the advantages and disadvantages of each depending on its intended primary function.

STANDARD GULET
The standard Gulet is similarly shaped to the Tirhandil with a rounded and undercut stern,but usually larger. The increase in dimensions, the addition of a mast or two and subtle modifications to the hull make more room for forward and central cabins, and of course make it more suitable for chartering. This is adaptation of gulets today for chartering more well.

ELUSIVE TIRHANDIL
Despite generally being the superior sailing vessel of the three, have less aft deck space for Blue Cruise voyages, they are not as frequently commissioned by local builders and thus remain elusive. Yet it is the tirhandil, more so than the gulet, which carries the most traditional elements of Aegean sailing boats of the last two millennium. Its origins from the Bodrum area having two masts , a bow spirit and lateen sails. It is beak-nosed with a scoop stern and sample interior capacity. Tirhandils are workhorses of the Mediterranean last 2 thousand years and is similar to its cousin, the caique, and the Greek transport vessel called perama. The Greek equivalent of tirhandil is trechenderi.

AYNA KETCH (KETCH GULET)
This is the ultimate in Charter Gulet development, a compromise between a sailing Gulet and functionality as a spacious charter boat. More suited to motor cruising than sailing, though its design still allows some sailing opportunities in favorable wind conditions. The squared off and deepened stern allows for the inclusion of cabins below a raised rear deck, ideal for outdoor dining. The beam cross section is also deepened to eliminate as much as possible the inward slope of the hull in the cabins. It look like gulet but has a squared off stern. The primary advantage over a gulet is to the passengers in the form of increased cabin space with an aft master cabin or separate crew quarters. Translated, aynakıç literally means "paneled rear" or "mirror-assed", depending on the preferred interpretation. Some local people call it as ketch because of the rigging.

After small beginnings and many years of in-depth experience of the fundamentals of what makes a good yacht, the charter version of Valena Yachting was born. Logs of African mahogany are carefully selected and the cut to start the final drying process. Craftsmen are gathered to cut and assemble 1000's of cubic feet and raw wood and using traditional methods cross planked glued together to produce another true classic and a work of art.

The very latest technology and skills are linked with old fashioned craftsmanship, producing fine vessels.

Beautiful interiors with exceptional finish setting high standards which are followed through to the standard of charter and onboard service.

Remaining in the charter fleet, the 'White Wings' launched in 2000 was recently sold. Her super sister ship 'Hic Salta' will be 40m and include 5 guest cabins, deck jacuzzi and separate crew quarters.

BARAKUDA KALKAN DIVE CENTER

Kalkan - Antalya - Turkey

Barakuda Dive Center, which is directly attached to the Hotel Pirat, lies approx. 20 m. from the sea. A house reef of the basis is outstanding suitable for beginner trainings and night dives. Over few stairway steps you can arrive to the hotel pool, which is used for pool training and the first dive trials. The shady pool terrace with wonderful view on the sea offers opportunity at the end of a fascinating diving to the cosy gathering and exchange of experience.

Our basis is characterized by a personal atmosphere and individuality - therefore our team is always endeavored to deal with all desires of our guests. Since the diving equipment remains for the entire time of the booked dive on the diving boat, we save the uncomfortable carrying of the equipment to our guests!

Beside the main office we have a compressor area with two new compressors (260 and 190 liters/min.). The basis is equipped with comprehensive first aid equipment. A small workshop with spare parts depot is likewise present.

Equipment
We have more than 25 new complete equipment, 70 aluminum tanks (12 lt.) with DIN connections (INT adapters available), as well as 4 small 4 lt - steel tanks for pool and children training.

In addition we offer ABC equipment and diving lamps for rental.

The entire equipment is under control of experts, in order to guarantee to our diving guests highest security.

Our Boat BARAKUDA-1
We start our diving boat twice per day to one of the more than 25 diving locations, which promise both for beginners and for professionals maximum diving fun.

14 m. long and 4.5 m wide wood boat is reequipped particularly for diving purposes and offers comfortably place for 25 divers. We reach the diving locations between 10 to 40 min. with the help of 240PS Volvo Diesels.

Modern equipment and carefully thought details fulfill strict safety standards and provides for highest diving comfort: In and exit platform, wc/Fresh Water Shower, Oxygen equipment, Radio, Emergency equipment, Seats with tank stabilization, Generous shelves

Afterwards the material is again deepened together with the diving teacher and examined in a small Quiz. After all 5 course modules, diver takes a written final test. The training of the PADI Open Water takes approximately 4-5 days.

The swimming pool training takes place in the hotel pool directly over the diving basis or in the limited open water. The diver learns how to deal with his diving equipment and makes first experiences under water. At the center of attention of these exercises are the security of diving and learning fundamental diving talents.

In the open water the divers practice their abilities in the sea, which they learned in the swimming pool, and advance step for step to the underwater world. With the successful conclusion of the free water training the diver will try to achieve PADI Open Water Diver Brevet.

The minimum age for this beginner course amounts to 10 years. We have special diving equipment for children, so that the children can experience the fascination of diving.

Advanced Open Water Diver
For all those, which would like to develop their diving talents further. This course represents an important step in diving training

This course contains 5 dives in various special fields, e.g. night diving, deep diving, underwater navigation, wreck diving etc. The theory training is reduced to a minimum, so that practice and diver driving are the center of attention.

Medic First Aid
Medic First Aid (Emergency First Response) gives you the skills you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Whether you're a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response helps you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations. This comprehensive program contains two core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand-alone courses: Emergency First Response - Primary Care and Emergency First Response - Secondary Care. Together, these courses provide extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections. This course is usually conducted over one day.

Rescue Diver
This three day course is a very important step in expanding knowledge and experience. As with all PADI courses, it is ‘performance’ based and involves classroom, confined water and beach skill development sessions followed by five open water training sessions. Self-rescue and diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, equipment considerations, tired diver, panicked diver, response from shore or boat with both a conscious and unconscious victim, distressed diver, surfacing an unconscious diver, unconscious diver at the surface, egress with an unconscious diver, first aid for pressure related injuries, underwater search scenario, response, egress and management scenarios.

Dive Master
This course includes academic knowledge development. Watermanship and stamina are evaluated together with diving skills, which will be developed to demonstration quality. You will complete a rescue evaluation and underwater mapping exercises as well as demonstrating your skills in dive planning and leadership. You will also function as an instructional assistant, both in confined and open water. Completion of this course qualifies you to attend a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and eventual certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

We welcome anyone over the age of 8 to dive with us. To attend our diving courses, though, the minimum age is 10. We organize two dives a day by boat for certified divers. The boat leaves at 09:30 and returns around 12:00 hrs. We then set off again at 15:00 hrs for the afternoon dive and we are back in Kas around 18:00 hrs. Non-divers and snorkellers are also welcome to join us on board. Every week we arrange least one full-day trip, starting at 09:30. After the morning dive we eat on board. Lunch is followed by a swimming and snorkeling break. We then do a second dive and return around 18:00 hrs.

Every day we offer discovery dives at the beach on demand. The maximum depth is 5 meters and duration is 20 minutes. All you have to do is breathe and watch the view underwater.

Discover Scuba Diving (1 Day)
After a short theory session and one pool training module (confined water dive) you dive down to 12 meters. With this temporary certificate you can dive for 14 days with a Padi Instructor or Dive Master.

Junior Open Water Diver (4-5 Days)
The minimum age for this course is 10 years. The course consists of 5 theory sessions, 5 pool training modules (confined water dives) and 4 open water dives down to 12 meters.

Open Water Diver (4-5 Days)
The minimum age for the OWD course is 15 years. The course consists of 5 theory sessions, 5 pool training units, 2 open water dives down to 12 meters and 2 dives to 18 m.

Advanced Open Water Diver (2 Days)
During this course you do one U/W Navigation dive, one deep dive down to 30 meters and 3 dives which you can choose for your interest and needs. (night dive, naturalist, peak performance buoyancy etc.)!

CMAS *** (min. 6 Days). Min. age 18 years. During this course you learn how to organize and guide dives under complex conditions and diving with beginners.

Junior CMAS** / ***
Minimum age for Junior** is 10 years, for Junior*** 12 years. The courses content each 4-5 theory lessons and 6 dives. The maximum depth is, depending on the age, 8 - 12m

Assistant Instructor
This training is required as qualification to become an instructor. Pre requites for the course is CMAS***, min. 80 logged dives (30 of these dives in the sea). The training takes min. 4 weeks.

Every participant receives a logbook from the dive center. Original videos and manuals are used in our courses.

DIVE SPOT
Almost everywhere there is a dive spot in Kaş. There are many hot spots both for experienced divers and beginners. The Underwater world of Kaş is very nice for taking photos or making video films.

Flying Fish Reef / 30 Min. : Top at 5 m. going down to 40 m. Full of groupers, amberjack, many moray eels and lots of other small fish. Good for experienced divers

Assi Island 1 / 30 Min. : A small island with big ancient pots at 40 m. and many fish to see. Both for experienced and inexperienced divers.

Assi Island 2 / 30 Min. : Fascinating underwater world with many cracks and rocks accompanied with big groupers and jacks and even turtles! Inexperienced divers can circle around the island.

Canyon Wreck / 30 Min. : Steel Greek ship wreck at 30-35 m. Beautiful place. Wreck is good for experienced divers and there are also other spots at different directions for inexperienced divers

Lobster Point / 30 Min. : Rocky edges with light and shadows dances. Many well preserved ancient artifacts. and old anchors. This spot offers dives for all.

Pina Reef / 15 Min. : Reef top at 8 meters. Rocky and sandy slopes down to 40 meters. Sandy patches with big muscles. Dive spot for all levels

Şömine /45 Min. : A tunnel covered with well grown Mediterranean vegetation. Entry at 18 meters and exit at 30 meters. As the passages wide enough, this dive is suitable for all divers.

Sarıot Adası-Duvar / 45 Min. : The attractions of this dive spot are a drop off grown over and over with anemones and feather stars and a plateau with bizarre rock formations. At this spot you find many big groupers. A beautiful dive spot for all divers.

Gürmenli Ada : 5-35 m. Wall diving, not many fish, but beautiful view and wall. Sandy beach at 30 m. Good for all divers.

Küçük Kaya : Small island, easy to navigate. 5-40 m. depth. Many barracudas to see. Both for experienced and inexperienced divers.

Cave 1 / 5 Min. : Entrance at 5 m. 20 m. long cave. Big air pocket inside. Light necessary. For experienced divers.

Cave 2 / 10 Min. : Entrance at 7 m. 15 m. long cave with air pocket inside. No need for light. For every diver

Mavi Wreck / 25 Min. : Wooden boat wreck sunk in 1995. 20 m long, at 25 m. with amberjack and breams. Nice for every diver.!

Üç Kaya / 25 Min. : Small reef, highest point at 11 m. Many small and big fish. Good place for photographers. Many ancient ceramic pots. For every diver.

Fener Kulesi / 10 Min. : 150 years old wooden Ottoman boat wreck, some ancient pots to see. Octopus and a big grouper are always there waiting for experienced and inexperienced divers.

Çapa Banko / 30 Min : Nice coastline, nice place for a relaxed afternoon dive. Barracudas are always here. Every diver will enjoy this place.

Likya Wreck / 15 Min. : wooden boat wreck sunk in 1996, 15 m. long, at 27 m. and a nice coastline with sharp walls and many cavities. For everyone!

Chicken Beach / 20 Min. : Open your eyes and you will see many small details! Especially for beginners, but also the experienced divers will be delighted.

Bernd Stein / 20 Min. : Nice sheltered bay offering every depth levels for all divers.

Don Armando Bay / 25 Min. : Relaxing afternoon dive. Barracudas and turtles are around in the shallow area. Especial for beginners.

Eel Cove / 20 Min. : Among the rocks hide moray eels, and with a little luck you see calamars and big snails at daytime. For everyone!

Diving Education
The dream of diving the unforgettable underwater world does no longer have to be a dream. Scuba diving is easier than you may think and with the proper training it is easy to learn this fascinating sport within a short time.

The knowledge development is based on 5 theory modules, thoroughly explained in your Open Water Diver Manual. The knowledge development lessons start with watching the video for each module. Thereafter, your instructor reviews the topics with you and a quick quiz at the end of each module assures that you understood everything you need to know. After you have been through all 5 modules, you will easily finalize the knowledge development with a final exam.

The confined water training takes place either in the swimming pool of the hotel above the dive center or in a sheltered bay. Here you learn how to handle your dive equipment, experience your first breath underwater and practice all the skills required for safe and enviable scuba diving.

During the open water ocean dives you will apply the skills learnt in the confined water and you will adapt step-by-step to the underwater world. Having finalized the open water training, you earn your PADI Open Water Diver Certificate. The Open Water Diver certification is accepted at any dive spot worldwide and discerns you as a scuba diver who has a full understanding and good practice of the basic knowledge and skills in order to be able to dive in a safe manner.

Subsequently we immediately start with the "Enriched Air Diver“ course. An additional short theoretical training and two open water dives are necessary.

The minimum age for the beginner course is 10 years and for the beginner plus „Enriched Air Diver“ course, 15 years. The Padi Open Water Diver Course takes 4 - 5 days, the "Enriched Air Diver“ Course an additionally one to two days.

PADI AOWD incl. Enriched Air Diver Speciality
For those of you who would like to further their diving skill beyond that of an entry-level diver and who look for interesting and challenging dive adventures, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is an important step in your dive training.

This course is composed of 5 adventure dives in various specialty areas such as Night Diving, Deep Diving, Underwater Navigation, Wreck Diving etc. The focus of this course is the practical application of the relevant skills with some additional knowledge development.

Divers, who participate the PADI AOWD incl. the special “Enriched Air Diver (NITROX) course can combine their AOWD training dives using enriched air with adventure dives. This exception is possible, as training dives with enriched air do not require any special water skills.

The divers meet the requirements for diving with enriched air on land, then complete their adventure dive and fulfill the requirements under water – using enriched air instead of compressed air – and thus receive a credit for the special "Enriched Air Diver" course and at the same time for the “Adventures in Diving” Program, too.

2.Dive: Panorama Reef. The Reef start in 25m depth, with mostly little current. Lunch on the beach from Kaputaş. Here we have the Possibility to visit a Blue cavern by snorkeling.

3.Dive: Explorer/Reef by Heybeli Ada. A abundant overgrown Reef,ideal for the third dive. At night Barbecue on Board .

Right on the windy tip of the Bodrum Peninsula on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. If you are a windsurfer or a kitesurfer, or you would like to learn windsurfing or kitesurfing and you are looking for a nice, warm and windy place; 12 years ago we found one in Turkey. We decided to build our centre here and make it the best possible.

Because this is the place where we wanted to windsurf as much as we could. We love to share it with our guests. The greatest thing about it, is to see people enjoying their holidays and improving their surfing.

Fener beach is on the way from Akyarlar to Turgutreis. You can get there by a direct minibus service (dolmush) from Bodrum city center (20 km), from Turgutreis town (6 km) and from Akyarlar village (2 km).
The dolmush service is the cheapest way of travelling on Bodrum peninsula.
You can not miss the only lighthouse of the peninsula midway from Akyarlar village to Turgutreis. The dolmush driver will stop wherever you like.
The centre is next to the lighthouse you won't miss the flags and the windsurfers.

For a few years now we have been working in co-operation with Perla Subaqua institute.

They are providing recreational diving with very small groups. They offer CMAS and PDIC international certificates. They have programs suitable for complete beginners to advanced instructors.

Even though you have never tried diving before you can start with an initiation dive. This is ideal for non windsurfers travelling with windsurfers and even for windsurfers looking for a change.

Perla will come and pick you up from your hotel and will take you to Akyarlar (2Km from Fener). From there you will leave the port on their boat for the diving sites. Lunch will be served on board. Non divers can participate in that pleasant cruise.

Bodrum is a excellent diving area not only because of the brightness and the clearness of it's waters but also because of the rich underwater archaeological remains. Nearby are hundreds of antique wrecks full of amphora's. Thousands of years ago the primitive sailing boats were sinking mainly because of the strong wind. Nautilus Diving center has started in 1997 with three instructors. Today it has grown to become one of the main dive centers in Kaş. Nautilus Diving Center gives training in both certificates: PADI and CMAS. Our diving courses continues during 4 seasons and 12 months in the excellent Mediterranean climate.

PADI
The PADI System of diver education is based on state of the art instructional system design theory, and progressive training that introduces skills, safety related information and local environmental knowledge to students in stages. PADI courses are student-centered and provide for maximum practice and application. Students learn the basics through independent study and then are guided through additional development by their instructors. The goal is to get students in the water as soon as possible and provide them with the instruction necessary to gain confidence in their diving abilities.

Course Materials
We provide educational materials, training aids, promotional pieces and recognition materials to conduct and market PADI programs. These materials are developed by credentialed instructional designers who use state-of-the-art technology and learning theories to produce quality products.

SCUBA DIVING
When you discover scuba diving, you discover exciting adventure, freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the weightless exhilaration of breathing. Underwater Divers find it nearly addicted. First your PADI instructor will provide a brief orientation, then take you on your first underwater adventure in the confined water. Then you will learn to use scuba equipment and get accustomed to your new surroundings. Finally, under your instructor's careful supervision, you will go on an actual scuba dive and get a close-up look at the underwater world.

OPEN WATER DIVER
Once you complete this course you will be a fully qualified diver and awarded a certification. This credit card sized "Positive Identification Card" carries your photo and confirms your training completion and ability to dive to the requirements established by. PADI (The International Association of Diving Instructors).

This qualification is recognized worldwide, allowing you to rent diving equipment and other diving related services for recreational Open Water diving with another suitably qualified diver without the direct or indirect supervision of an instructor. You will be able to participate in continuing education courses such as the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course and exciting PADI Specialty courses including

Multi Level Diver
Wreck Diver
Night Diver
Drift Diver
which can eventually lead to the Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non-professional level.

Who can do it?
Anyone who is over the age of 12, in reasonable health and fairly comfortable in the water. In other words if you can stay a float for ten minutes and swim 200 yards. Those who are 12 to 15 years of age will be awarded the Junior Open Water Diver rating but may not dive together
unless buddied by an adult.

PADI Advanced Open Water course can be completed in as little as one weekend.

The choice is yours
Diving interests and dive sites differ - so you choose the specialty dives in your PADI Advanced Open Water program, guided by your PADI Instructor. You'll make "core" underwater navigation, night and deep dives, and then choose "elective" dives from:

RESCUE DIVER
If you have recently completed your Entry level and Advanced training logging a few dives in the process, your train has emphasized the skills that make you a safe diver. As a Rescue Diver you will have acquired the skills of self reliance caring for yourself and your equipment. You will observe other people and become aware of their behavior and attitudes and note how things may affect you later, anticipating, assessing and acting where
necessary. You will have learned the Skills of Accident Management and not just ''How to rescue a Diver!''

What Qualifications do I need?
You must be at least 15 years of age and certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Plus Diver or 12 years old with a PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver qualification.

MEDIC FIRST AID
Having completed your Entry and Advanced level training you may wish to take your dive training to the next stage, the Rescue Diver level. This course will teach you self reliance as well as awareness of other divers so that you will be capable and prepared to manage a diving accident should it ever arise. The Rescue Diver course can not be undertaken unless you have a valid First Aid and CPR qualification. The PADI Medic First Aid course meets the requirements and is a basic training in CPR and emergency care. It is a medically based course designed to teach student at a layman's level the same procedures and priorities used by paramedics. The Medic First Aid course is recognized in over eighty countries and conforms to International First Aid standards.

What Qualifications do I need?
You must be at least 12 years of age. No prior certification is required and non divers are also welcomed.

DIVE MASTER
The role of a Divemaster is one of great diversity. It means that the person acting as the Divemaster may well be ''in charge'' of a diving activity or dive site. Some of the duties of a Divemaster mean that she/he may become a guide, supervisor, instructional assistant, medic, oceanographer, technician, counselor, public-relation expert, seaman and trained buddy.

For many, the diversity of this course, although perhaps initially daunting, makes the job of a Divemaster very interesting, exciting and rewarding.
The level of Divemaster is considered by PADI as the first stage of professional diver training. Divemaster are encouraged to pursue even higher levels of training and become a qualified PADI Open Water Instructor.

CMAS
CMAS (World Underwater Federation) is the organization of the divers. The way goes from the diver over the association and the national dipping sport federation to the world union. The CMAS is not excluding a certification agency. The CMAS was created on 15 January 1959 of 15 countries in Monaco under the patronage of Commander Jacques Yves Cousteau. Since 1994 is the seat in Rome, 94 countries belongs to the federation, and it is Mitlied into the IOC, ind the UNESCO, into the IUCN, into the GAIFS and into the World Games Organization. The Executive office consists of the three committees sport, technique and science as well as the independent commissions medicine and right .

Nautilus became a federation of the World Underwater Federation (C.M.A.S.), thus allowing our instructors and divers the distinct designation of this international certification.

Start with snorkeling, holding your breath forever. Dive a distance of 12m for the one-star and 25m for the two-star certification. Learning is more fun than with CMAS. While CMAS** students do emergency ascends, rescue and first aid.

EQUIPMENT
The Principle of divers need equipment. Dive equipment allows to see and breath easily for an extended time underwater. Divers move freely under water and stay warm and comfortable with the appropriate equipment. Human physiology and diving's physics and chemistry impose limitations on people underwater, but equipment minimized these limitation.

Equipment also affect dive equipment. In the early days of diving participation was limited to those willing to endure the shortcomings of primitive equipment. This tended to exclude smaller people, women, children, elderly and people with disabilities. Today's recreational dice equipment allows nearly everyone to participate in diving at same level. Equipment has become lighter, more attractive and easier to use than ever before.

Your equipment can be left Nautilus boat overnight and will be taken care of by the crew after each dive, no carrying equipment in the sun.

DIVING TOURS
We make a two trip a day: 09:30 am we meet on board depart at 10:00 am. And we are back at around 12:00 noon. In the afternoon 02:30 pm meeting and departing at 03:00 pm and we are back in the marine around 05:00 pm

The diving organized in small groups and each group has its own guide to give you the most individual care possible. Of course always under supervision of PADI professionals.

DIVING BOAT
The boat can accommodate up to 40 divers. With it's powerful engine, no dive site is too far away for it. It's 16m long and there are two platforms for sunbathing. The upper deck platform is 40 square meters. And the lower deck is 16 square meters. There is a large and tidy 40 square meter dive preparation area in the boat. Also a shower, WC a fitting room and one large cabin with a kitchen is available. The equipment can be left onboard overnight and will be taken care of by the crew after each dive, no carrying equipment in the sun.

DIVE SPOTS

CAVE DIVE
There is a big pebble beach which faces the Greek Island. On the right and left hand side there are two caves. Both caves are not deep and can be entered from 7m to 9m. Divers can ascend in the caves which are both quite big. One of the caves is called "cold cave" because its always 14 degrees Celsius. Even when the water in the mind season is 30 degrees.

LIGHT HOUSE
There is an Ottoman Ship Wreck at 22m depth. Also a reef dive is possible in this area. There are large grouper fish. We named the largest one "Süleyman". We are quite sure you will enjoy seeing him. Groupers are Kaş' local fish. The depth of dive is usually around 18m.

INCE BOGAZ
It is at the side of the Peninsula. The other side is the biggest natural Bucak Bay of Turkey. Carettas prefer this place. Flat rocks lays in the dive site 20m

STONEHENGE
It is an antique shaped stone dive max. 20m to 26m. Nice and quite dive. It is also a caretta dive.

HIDAYET BAY
There are two diving areas One is great for training because it is quite shallow and the other is about 35m deep. There are a lot of grouper fish and stingrays.

GUVERCIN ADA
Very nice and a large area, good for both experienced and beginners. Wreck and reef dive.

ÜÇKAYA
The top of the reef starts at 7 meters and goes all the way down to 35 meters and more. The best is 25 meters max. There is rich underwater life in this area.

ÇAPABANKO
This is another very nice historical dive site. A lot of anchors are in rocks which sometimes makes it difficult to see but our guides will show you. There is also rich underwater life.

AKINTI BURNU
Akıntı Burnu as its name says is an area with current. That's why sometimes its hard to dive there. But nice wall dives can be made.

BESMI ISLAND
Besmi Island is a very beautiful site to dive. It has a bit of current but it depends on the weather. There are very big, well protected amphora's at around 40m depth.

FLYING FISH
Flying fish is a reef, which starts at 5m and goes very deep. There is an Italian war plane with 3 propellers that crashed for unknown reasons during the Second World War and fell. The engine of the plane becomes visible at a depth of 40 meters, the other parts and the tail go down to the depths of 60 meters. Around the wreck there is still some unexploded ammunition. Except for the engine, the other parts of the plane lie under the sea complete, but of course time has done a lot of damage to the fuselage.

CANYON
The Canyon is an amazing site to dive at. First, you are in a flat area which goes only 5m to 10m and then a sudden depth starts which resembles a canyon. It's an impressive site to sea. There is a French cargo shipwreck at 25m and its propellers are at 40m. There are also caves and under rock areas which make the dive even more exciting.

GURMENLI ROCKS
A very nice dive site. Rich in fish life. After 40m depth sand starts.

GURMENLI ADASI
In Gürmeli Ada there are two good diving sites both of which have very deep anchors and reefs. It's very good area for day trips.

KÖFTE ADASI
Köfte Ada also a very nice reef dive. It is in the bay area near the peninsula and is quite rich in sea life.

PANORAMA, ISIK REEF, HEYBELI
These three diving areas are very interesting but are quite far away. We usually go on to these sites on special request and enjoy the trip there with Nautilus's delicious food.

Your First Time? After watching the PADI Discover Scuba video, first time divers will receive an introductory talk on our dive boat by one of the instructors. After being shown the equipment, they will be fitted out with modern and fully serviced scuba gear, before taking their first dip. Clients will participate in their first dive in small groups in shallow water and under the close supervision of our diving instructors.

Dolphin Scuba Team is a Recognized PADI Dive Resort. All our instructors are PADI qualified and we are authorized and licensed by the Turkish Government to carry out diver training.

Non Divers: Families and friends of those who are diving but not wishing to participate themselves, are welcome to join us on the dive boat for the day. You will have an enjoyable day out relaxing on the spacious sun deck, or swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear warm waters (a small charge is made for non divers, please see our price list).

Refreshments: We serve a freshly prepared cooked lunch on the boat each day and, a selection of hot and cold drinks is also available for purchase on board.

TURKISH DIVING REGULATIONS

Introduction: In Turkey, all diving activities are required to be licensed and carried out under regulations. The purpose of these regulations are to promote water sports nationwide, making them both enjoyable, safe and internationally successful. State training is essential to provide standards that scuba divers should obey in inland waters and the seas around Turkish borders.

The Rules
The regulations related to sport scuba diving in Turkish waters were published in the state newspaper number 2054, March 3, 1990. In these regulations the following items should be noted by foreign divers visiting Turkey;

* All diving must be for sport purposes only.
* Diving for scientific purposes is an exception and special permits may be granted.
* All dives in military zones and where cultural and natural wealth exists, are forbidden.
* All diving as a sports activity requires official permission.
* Permission for diving may be obtained from the city tourism directorate.
* All visiting foreign divers (for sports diving), should be members of CMAS or of the other international recognized sport diving organizations or hold a document given by the authorities in their country.
* All foreign divers must be accompanied by a Turkish dive guide.
* The guide diver must be legally appointed by SCSPF and hold a license.
* The guide diver will take every precaution to protect a foreign diver and his belongings.
* The dive guide will take every precaution to ensure that divers protect the cultural and natural wealth of Turkey.
* Anybody who wants to dive in Turkey must be insured.
* When diving from a boat, Turkish boats should be used however, a foreigner visiting the Country can make dives from a boat owned by them providing official permission is obtained.
* Photography or video camera recording whilst diving is permitted.
* From these regulations it can be seen that all diving in Turkey must take place with authorized dive guides from registered diving centres like Dolphin Scuba Team.

The Turkish Government have recently relaxed regulations preventing diving in some areas. It appears that the whole of Kalkan bay may now be free to sport divers, including some wreck sites!

PADI Discover Scuba Diving
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program lets you experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of one of our PADI Professionals in a pool or pool-like conditions. During your adventure, you'll master some basic concepts and scuba skills and might even head off to experience an open water adventure.

What will I do?
When you participate in a Discover Scuba Diving Program, you discover excitement and adventure - freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the 'weightless' exhilaration of breathing underwater. Only a diver knows the feeling!

How long will it take?
YOU CAN DIVE STRAIGHT AWAY!!! Whether you watch the short PADI Discover Scuba Video, or are briefed with the Discover Scuba Diving Flip Chart, you'll enter the water quickly and ready for your scuba adventure.

Where can I go from here?
As soon as you Discover Scuba Diving, you're on your way to an internationally recognized certification. That's because you will learn skills used in the PADI Open Water Diver course during you Discover Scuba Diving adventure. The skills you will practice may be credited towards the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certifications.

PADI Scuba Diver
Thinking of getting certified for an upcoming vacation, but don't have the time to put into a regular diver course? Now there is a quick and easy program designed especially for you! PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

PADI Open Water Diver

What do I need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

A PADI Jr. Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 12 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 meters.

What will I do?
Throughout the course, you'll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water ( sea ) dives.

How long will it take?
PADI Programs are performance based. You process as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. The course normally has duration of 3-5 days but will be paced according to the individual diver.

Adventures in Diving
The Adventure in diving program offers both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. PADI Specialty Courses
How far will you take this diving thing? It's up to you. With PADI Specialty Diver Programs you can chart your course for a colourful collection of awesome dives. Sure, your PADI certification opens up the ocean and lakes to you, but the PADI Specialty dives take the underwater adventure to depths that will stir your soul. This comprehensive program is composed of two core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand alone courses: Emergency First Response - Primary Care and Emergency First Response - Secondary Care.

Together, these courses proved extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections.

How long will it take?
Depending on the amount of home study, the Primary and Secondary courses maybe completed in as little as four hours.

This course satisfies your PADI Rescue Diver CPR prerequisite.

Why PADI Rescue Diver?
Rewarding and fun - that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

What do I need to start?
You can enroll in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Advanced Open Water Diver. To participate in the rescue training sessions in open water, and to participate in the open water rescue scenarios, you must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Minimum age: 15 years old, 12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver

Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the last 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.

What will I do?
Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the five open water sessions, you'll cover:

Self-rescue and diver stress, AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems, dive first aid, swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques, emergency management and equipment, panicked diver response, underwater problems, missing diver procedures, surfacing the unconscious diver, in-water rescue breathing protocols, egress (exits), first aid procedures for pressure related accidents, dive accident scenarios

How long will it take?
Minimum Open Water Training: five sessions over two days

Where can I go from here?
The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all Professional level PADI courses, beginning with the PADI Divemaster certification.

PADI Divemaster
Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI Divemaster. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

What can PADI Divemasters do?
Work at local dive centres, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations, assist PADI Instructors with students, lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive tours, teach and certify PADI Skin Divers, teach PADI Discover Snorkeling programs, conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers, lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences, teach Emergency First Response programs after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

What do I need to start?
PADI Rescue Diver certification, Medical clearance signed by a physician, 20 logged dives, 18 years old

What will I do?
Learn dive leadership through classroom and independent study sessions, Complete water skills and stamina exercises in confined and open water,
Training exercises to test organizational and problem solving abilities, An internship or series of practical training exercises

How long will it take?
Two weeks - three months

DIVE SITES

We offer daily dive tours, which start at 10 am and generally we are back in the harbour around 5 pm. Of course we can organize a transfer to the harbour for you, if your hotel is not close to the harbour! In the main season a day on the boat could be like that:

Corinna, Cahit, Murat and Rıfat are the responsible for the diving activities. They welcome the students and try divers on the boat at 9:00 am, where they get a general introduction, watch videos and prepare equipment. Experienced divers and non divers should be on the boat at 9:45 am - who is coming early can join us for a tea!

We leave the harbour at 10:00 am, heading for the first dive site for the experienced divers. Usually this places give also a nice opportunity for swimming and snorkeling for those who are not diving. After the first dive we go to a sheltered place for the lunch break. By that time Hakkı has prepared his excellent freshly cooked food. The experienced divers and non divers can use this time for sun tanning, swimming, sleeping, reading, talking and tea drinking .. everything that relaxes. Try divers go to water here in safe conditions and students will make their training dives in confined water.

Next station is the second dive site for the experienced divers. After this dive we go back to the harbour, sometimes in the hot season with a short break at the cold water bay to get some nice refreshment! Back in the harbour we have a cool deco beer with our guests, for the coming season we will prepare a nice sitting area in the harbour - where we also wait for you in the evenings to join us for a drink.

Diving for the experienced divers
We choose the dive sites according to weather conditions and experience level and expectations of our guests. One good thing with our dive sites is, that at nearly every spot we can offer easy shallow and also more demanding deeper dives. We dive in small groups 2 - 4 divers.

DIVE SPOTS

Camel Stone Reef
The Turkish name for that reef is "deve taşı", because it looks under water like a sitting camel. There is no reference, that this place is a historical important place, but we feel, that this place was a former village - the stone formations remind us a lot of roads and houses. Here we see all different kind of small fishes, sometimes also big fish like grouper, barracuda and Jack fish. We like that place, because it offers sometimes really unexpected nice diving experiences, also there is still a big area, which we didn't dive that much and which needs some exploration!

Firnaz Bay
Firnaz Bay is the ideal place for the lunch break. The sandy beach in the bay gives the water a caribean blue colour and invites the discover scuba divers to their first try. Nowhere its deeper than 5-6 meters, however there is a lot to see. The rock garden and huge sandy areas with a lot of different inhabitants and in the same time this environment forgives unexpected ground contact of the diver. Here grow the most different fish species and the youngsters are mostly really curious what we are doing under water and come verily close.

Frenk Bay
Frenk Bay is a very close and often nicely quiet beautiful bay. Also this place was a natural harbour in the lykien time. The fields of amphoras are remains from sunken boats at that time. When we go there at lunch time, it offers a lot to discover for the beginners, amphoras on shallow bottom, a lot of colour and it is possible to find nearly everything there in fish. With the experienced divers we go to the amphora field at the bottom of a 20 meter wall. In the season 05 we saw some remarkable gropers here! In the hot time, especially the swimmers love that place, as the fresh water spring offer a nice cooling system.

Middle Reef
The middle reef is one more diving spot with a lot of facettes. On the shallow top of the reef in 10-15 meters are a lot of potential motives for photographers, especially in summer, when huge swarms of sardelles invite the tunafish teenagers for hunting. We are also impressed by the colourly **bewachsenen*** bizarre rock formations. In the deeper areas we find usually a lot of bigger fish, now and then we meet a turtle and last but not least there are two more huge anchors, one of it in standing position and especially nicely ****bewachsen***. The middle reef is quite close to the harbour and we are happy about the different opportunities that place is offering us, because we can go there in nearly every weather condition.

Snake Island Wall
A extraordinary diving spot, where we can only go in nice weather conditions. The wall goes down to 60 meters and impresses by its ***bewuchs***. If you carry a lamp you could get drunk by colours... Moreover here is big fish nearly guaranteed, we saw here swarms of groupers, huge animally and at least 60 of them.

Three Anchors/Medallion Reef
The original name of this reef is medallion reef. Three years ago Cahit discovered this diving place. In the beginning we always dived to one huge anchor with a impressive chain, which is lying across two rocks like a medallion. One year later we find two more anchors in the same area, now we visits all the anchors with the experienced divers in one dive - and that's why we call that place now three anchors! This place, with its volcanic bottom shape, gives you sometimes the idea to be on the Mars! In the season 05 a trigger fish family had its nest there and especially in autumn time there are regular big schools of bream. The shallow part of the reef starts in 18 meters.

Wreck shallow part
The name of the ship is "Duchess of York" and it was built 1893 for lead transport. It sunk here approximately 70 years ago, when they hit the reef, which caused the explosion of the steam boiler. The ship broke in several pieces and during our dives we make easy and shallow dives to the shallow part of the wreck at 15 - 25 meters. This reef has a really nice top, where we also find scattered pieces of steel, offering nice homes for octopus, moray and more. In early summer this place is the kindergarten of the barracudas and a preferred relaxation place for turtles. Also you find here very nice plants. But look yourself in the gallery ..

Wreck, deep part
Although we are really diving quite often at this place, it is every time again amazing. When we go down, passing the middle part of the wreck, slowly slowly the shape of the wreck is coming out of the deep blue. It takes a few dives to get a nice understanding of this place. Also you never know, which fish is waiting for you down there .. there is the regular swarm of breams, big groupers and depending on the season huge Jacks. If you ask our guests, which is there favorite dive site - they will probably answer "the wreck deep!".

DIVE BOAT
This is our bawarian Honig. She is born in 1996 and until we bought her she was working as a blue tour boat. She is 15 meters long and 5.20 large. The motor is a 135 hp Ford machine, allowing a speed of 9 knots, although when the wind is suitable we are using the sail and move in complete silence. Also we have a "Baby Honig", which is equipped with a 2 hp motor. The water tanks take 1200 liter fresh water, the fuel capacity is 500 liters. On our boat we can take 20 guests. Of course we are fully equipped with fire extinguishers and life jackets - the Turkish authorities check all security things really closely!! We have a 20 liter tank pure oxygen and a huge first aid suitcase.

Divers who don't bring their own equipment can choose from our new Mares and Aqualung BCs and regulators. Suits, masks and fins we have in different sizes and style - also of course for non divers who want to do some snorkeling. We provide weights and 10/12 liter steel tanks.

We changed the boats design a little by adding a stainless steel/Teak wood divers platform, moving the toilet to the deck and making a big saloon and kitchen under deck. We still have two cabins, one for Yasin who is living on the boat in the season and one for ourselves and as storage room. Our sundeck is currently offering comfortable sunbeds for nine people, but we plan to add some more 4 places. In the high season, when the sun is really burning, we provide a sunsail for a relaxed nap after lunch! Our kitchen offers a fully equipped fridge - all drinks at reasonable prices.

We were quite excited, how our Honig will manage in the dive business, but after the first season we are happy to say, that she worked nicely in every weather condition and never let us down.
